Baha’i House of Worship
Baha’i House of Worship
The first time I saw this building was from an aerial shot from Ed Gilardon and remember thinking “I wish I could be able to travel to places like this…” Located a couple of miles north of Chicago, The Baha’i House of Worship is 1 of 8 dedicated temples of the Baha’i faith and the only one in the United States. However, there was just something about it that made it so much more; maybe the symmetry of the temple or the quietness of it’s stark white exterior, or maybe the gardens & ponds that offers the temple a sort of sanctuary within itself. A place that I was able to just get lost in thought in. I wish I could tell you how many times I walked around the Baha’i House of Worship until I realized that I was just walking in circles.
I wish my pictures did justice to the simplicity in every detail perfect balance. A place in harmony.
I’ll Never Forget That:
- It’s 1 of 8 dedicated temples of the Baha’i faith
- It’s the oldest surviving temple in the world & only one in United States.
- It contains nine gardens all with their own foliage to celebrate the beauty in diversity & unity.
- Baha’i believes that the oneness of humanity demands a rooting out of prejudice and inequality.
Check out Baha’i House of Worship to learn more about the history & beliefs.
